Upper Plenty Merri Catchments Landcare Group have organised an exclusive two-hour walking tour of one of the most significant Aboriginal places in south-eastAustralia, led by the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation Education Unit.

For thousands of years greenstone was quarried here and traded across hundredsof kilometres. This is the second event in UPMCLG’s cultural learning series — access to this site is by permission of the Traditional Owners, and places are strictly limited.

What you'll experience
1. The quarry itself: Hundreds of mining pits and flaking floors where axe blanks were shaped from greenstone
2. A trade network across south-east Australia: How custodianship worked, and how stone from here reached distant Country
3. Country read by its Traditional Owners: Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung guides on land, language and continuing connection
