Thanks to Jaclyn Symes MP, Minister for Environment, for the announcement yesterday about the wallan wallan Regional Parkland!
The Minister announced $1m to immediately start work to determine the park boundary, work with Traditional Owners, and formally consider the parkland in current and future planning processes.

 This is great news and comes off the back of months of intense advocacy and community campaigning by the wallan wallan Regional Parkland Alliance and our many supporters. Thanks to the more than 3,000 people who signed our parliamentary petition, wrote emails and letters, shared our posts to the wider community about the need for the wallan wallan Regional Parkland.

Thanks also to Friends of Merri Creek, Wallan Environment Group, BEAM Mitchell Environment Group and MCMC staff for continued work over many years.

While we await the details of exactly how the $1m will be spent, we’ll take this win for our Merri community and environment. The wallan wallan Regional Parkland Alliance will continue to advocate for the wwRP and all of its values.
